Tomato pasta

After Chinese, now it is time to try out Italian. I am quite comfortable with making Pizza ( with ready made pizza base :D ). I thought I would expand horizon with some basic Pasta recipe. So here is basic tomato pasta.

Ingredients:

            Cumin seeds
            Refined oil

            Vegetables:
                   Tomato - 2 large
Onion - 1 large chopped finely

Crushed garlic pod ( one or two)
            Salt to taste

Way to go:

Make the tomato sausage:

  • Boil tomatos ( full tomato) in hot water and once they are cooked well, peel off their skin and grind with little water to make tomoto puree.
  • Heat a spoon of oil in a kadai, and when hot crackle a spoonful of cumin seeds.
  •  Add the crushed garlic and saute in low heat.
  • Add chopped onion and fry till golden brown in medium heat.
  •  Add the tomato puree to it and cook in medium heat.
  •  Add salt and pepper powder to taste and cook well till paste thickens well.
  •  Remove them from flame and keep aside.
Cook the pasta:

  •  Take a kadai and pour enough water to immerse the pasta.
  •  Add the pasta nto the water. Add a pinch of salt.
  •  Cook in medium flame until pasta become soft and cooked well. Do not over cook as the pasta might get mushy. And make sure to stir now and then so that pasta do not stick to the bottom.
  • Once done, drain the water off the pasta.
  • Immerse the pasta in cold water for 5 to 10 mts. This avoid them from sticking to each other.
   Make the Tomato Pasta:

  •  Drain the pasta of the cold water they were immersed in thoroughly
  • Mix the pasta with the tomato sausage made.
  • Adjust salt if required.
  • Now the basic tomato pasta is ready and you can have it with Maggi Tomato Sauce if you want to shoot up the flavor further.
