Triple treat cake

Now that the baking bug bit me hard, I pulled out the OTG from the cabinet and started preheating it. Picked the recipe from Nishamadhulika for eggless applecake, and went onto add my own creativity to it, and made my unique version of "Triple treat cake". Yes, it is a cake that brings the flavor of Apple, Banana and Nutella to your palette. I would still call it a beginners recipe but I tried it my own way.

Recipe:
  • Maida - 2 cup
  • Apple -1
  • Banana - 2
  • Nutella choco hazelnut spread
  • Butter - 1 cup
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Cashew nut - 4 tbsp
  • Almonds grated - 4 tbsps
  • Baking powder - 2 tsps
  • Baking soda - 1 tsp
  •  Milk - 2 cups

Way to go:

  1.    Take a bowl and add two cups of maida onto it. Now add 2 tsp of baking powder and 1 tsp of baking soda to it. Give it a mix with a spatula, and then sieve them through a sieve twice to ensure they are mixed well. Now split them into two equal parts and keep the portions in different bowls
Make the apple cake layer:
  1.  Now peel the apples and grate them thoroughly.
  2.  Heat a kadai on a stove and add half a cup sugar, and to it add the grated apples. Do not add water, as apple oozes out moisture. Mix them well and cook them in low-medium flame for three to four minutes. Sugar and apple blends well to give the apple sauce. Remove them from flame and allow it to cool to room temperature in a bowl.
  3.  Now heat half a cup butter in a kadai and melt the butter. Once it melts and becomes a liquid, turn off the stove and it to the apple sauce and add about half a cup of milk. Ensure milk is in room temperature and not hot.  Whisk the mixture well to make them fluffy.
  4.  Now add the maida-soda-baking powder mixture to this and blend them all thoroughly with your hand or a spatula. Keep this entire mixture separately in a bowl. This will soon make our apple sponge cake layer in our triple treat cake.
  5. One thumb rule batter should neither be thick nor thin, and it should not  have lumps in it. So make sure it is all mixed well while making any batter, and do it with right consistency.
Make the Banana Layer
  1.  Now peel the bananas and mash them well with your hands. Now repeat step 3 to 5, with the banana in place of apple, and with the maida-soda-baking powder mixture which you have set aside during your step 1.  And this will soon make our banana sponge cake layer in our triple treat cake.
  2. Now take a baking tray of desired shape (Size should be sufficient enough to accommodate the batters you are going to pour). Grease the bottom and sides with butter or oil.
  3. Line the bottom of the tray with butter paper if you have. I didn't have one though.
Make the triple treat

  1. Now pour the apple cake mix and level them gently with a spoon.
  2.  Now pour a layer of Nutella choco hazelnut spread and spread in such a way that it covers the entire tray except the edges. Keep it half a inch away from all the edges/sides of the tray when you spread it.
  3. Now on top of it, pour the banana cake mix, and gently spread the top of the cake mix to level it, with a spoon.
  4. Pre-heat the oven/OTG at 200 degree Celcius for about some ten minutes.
  5. Now pull out the middle tray of the OTG, activate both the upper and lower rods. Set the temperature to 200 degree Celsius. And bake for 40 full minutes. Do not take it out immediately. Let it be inside the OTG for another 15 mts. Now pull it out, insert a knife to check if it comes out clean which means it is baked well to the center and bottom.
  6.   Separate the cake from the edges of the tray with a knife.Take it out, put the baking tray upside down on a large plate and gently tap at the bottom of the tray ( which is now on the top). Now slowly lift the tray and you should see the cake lying on the plate separated from the tray.
  7.  Now put it back in its position, cut them to pie and serve them hot or warm. Hence ready triple treat cake. My signature beginners cake version.
